General Submissions. We are open year-round for writing submissions, with rolling deadlines. Please check Submittable for current deadlines. We’re looking for writing submissions of short stories, poems, personal essays or excerpts (that stand alone) from any genre.
Submissions General Overview. Unlike many magazines, Creative Nonfiction draws heavily from unsolicited submissions. Our editors believe that providing a platform for emerging writers and helping them find readers is an essential role of literary magazines, and it’s been our privilege to work with many fine writers early in their careers.
Because pictures tell stories as well as words, Memoir welcomes submissions of visual artwork, (including photography, illustrations and word art) and sound projects (audible projects, podcasts, spoken word), as well as short form memoir and Creative Nonfiction essays, interviews and book reviews. Essays should be under 3,000 words.

The Paris Review. The Paris Review accepts unsolicited submissions of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry for the print quarterly via Submittable during the months of February and September and throughout the year through the post (see below for the separate submission guidelines for our online publication, The Daily). Until further notice, please do not mail hard copy submissions to the Paris.
We're interested in reading imaginative essays of general interest. Scholarly articles requiring footnote references should be submitted to journals of literary scholarship. Send one essay at a time. Essays should be double-spaced and formatted using a standard font.Please note: we do not consider submissions simultaneously under consideration elsewhere.
Runners-up will be published in Best College Admissions Essays 2020. We expect to publish around 50-75 original essays in this book. Essays may be any length between 250-1,000 words.
